Empower 54 has been in Maiduguri, Borno State for the last 3 weeks conducting several humanitarian activities including establishing some class rooms in the Bakasi IDP camp.

We were fortunate to get security access to visit the IDP camp in Bama which shares a border with the Sambisa Forest and the road to it is notorious for having land mines planted by Boko Haram terrorists.

The founder, Princess Modupe Ozolua, her son, Princes Seun Ozola and the Empower 54 Borno team initially went with the Borno Deputy Governor to donate 7 trailer loads of foods to the camp but returned a few days later for further assessment.

During the visit, the Nigerian Army and government officials shared with us one of the greatest challenges they are experiencing when rescuing women and children from the captivity of Boko Haram. They are found to be extremely malnourished and at the point of death.

Empower 54 is currently putting together resources to help those children by supporting the efforts of the Borno State government and Nigerian Army.
