November 23rd to November 29th 2014
We conducted our November free medical mission and food donation programs that included distribution of medical glasses and medication, in the dangerous creeks of Bayelsa State.
The programs had two teams, the medical team performed eye examinations, gave out medication and glasses to the underprivileged; while the food drive team went to both inland and riverine communities in the dangerous creeks distributing bags of rice to the poor.
The food drive team travelled for 3hours by speedboats to access the remote and dangerous creeks and Atlantic ocean of Brass and Southern Ijaw LGAs that are infamous for sea pirates and kidnappings. The Nigerian Navy supported them with high-powered gunboats and security personnel for security.
The local governments visited during the 7 days free medical and food drive missions were OGBIA, SAGBAMA, SOUTHERN IJAW, and BRASS, YENAGOA LGAs.
The Nigeria Customs Service supported the food donation program by donating 600 50kg bags of rice which were distributed to 48 communities in the state (28 land & 20 riverine only assessable via water). Â Â Â Â Â Â
The Medical team treated 2, 000 patients and the programs were sponsored by AutoPlaza Nigeria, Nigeria Customs Service, Body Enhancement Ltd, Dana Group, Trenur Nigeria Ltd, and Honorable Shenu Gusau Ibahim (Zamfara Federal).
